I value education, experience and training and the support it allows me to offer clients and students. However, it has been heart-centered intuitive guidance that has had the most valued impact on clients and students and on my own personal and professional endeavours.
BUSINESS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
After graduating from the Business Administration Accounting Diploma program in 1994, I worked in industry for almost 12 years while concurrently studying to become a Professional Accountant. As my career progressed I obtained over 7 years experience in management and leadership roles: Financial Administrator and Acting Executive Director for a non profit organization, Financial Controller for a private corporation and while with a Professional Accounting firm I was a Business Consultant, Audit and Review team member, Certified Simply Accounting Consultant and General Manager of the subsidiary bookkeeping business.
In 2006 I made a career change and accepted a full time position as a College Business Instructor. Since then I have been teaching in the Business Accounting and the University Transfer programs at the College of the North Atlantic. I deliver class instruction on campus and online. It has been very satisfying to be a part of the student’s journey from the start of the program until they finish and are awarded their Diploma. Many students keep in touch with me after graduation. Some just to chat and others contact me for guidance as they apply for jobs, advance in their profession or make career changes. It is so gratifying to know that a past graduate is happy, content and flourishing personally and professionally.
I am Chartered Professional Accountant and an online facilitator for the Chartered Professional Accountants program of professional studies. Delivering modules in their professional education program provides a fulfilling opportunity to provide coaching and guidance to future CPAs.
VOLUNTEER WORK
At the College of the North Atlantic I am an Accounting Curriculum team member and serve on the Assessment Advisory Committee. The Accounting Curriculum team ensures our accounting courses are current and meet or exceed industry standards and our Assessment Advisory Committee regularly review common assessments and ensure they meet or exceed our course requirements.
I have been a financial literacy volunteer for the Chartered Professional Accountants Association since 2015. Most of the sessions I have presented, have been for NLOWE with the audience being mainly female entrepreneurs.
